It’s something I’ve ran into when I first started Softimage. And now, I was told to not use the default models of characters, and make my own. This was said by the facilitator.
The only problem is, I’m not sure how to do so. Putting the hair and moving a few subdivisions is one thing. But actually making something that started out as a thought or drawn seems pretty hard right now.
So I guess I’m asking for suggestions or tips on how to make your own character.

There are a few methods people use, from box modeling to adding a poly at a time.
If you are brand new to Softimage and have $10 to spend, you might want to consider buying either

or

If you’re familiar enough with Softimage you can also find some of these tutorials (and other character ones) for free - you just need to translate them over to Softimage.

Be sure to look at plenty of wireframes too in order to get a good sense of topology / edge loops.

Countless portfolios, etc.

Thanks.
Since I’ve been working with the program for about 2 years, I’ll look at the familiar one.
