Hi
I did charge ModTools to have a test on Softimage new versions ( I did use, earlier, to work with Softimage 3D for IRIX !!!)
It sound great (even a little “too much options")
But I have a problem…
See, I did work on LightWave 7.5 (wich I also have a licence - regular one)) a Greek temple.
I did try to save it as .obj to transfer to Softimage (to better use the Displacement Mapping)
...But it won’t charge !!!
I did also try a .3ds (after “tripple” the polygones)...No result…
Does somebody has an idea on how should I transfer my file (from my Mac to the PC via USB)?
Thanks

Point Oven LWO?
Not sure if LW7.5 already supports this: FBX or Collada?

Are you trying to open the file (file open wont work) or are you importing the obj file using wavefront(obj)(file > import)?
Is the file saved in a formatted USB formatted for MAC? I had this issue with a customer lately, could not open the file under window.
Check the scale of the file as well, Softimage scale is one Softimage Unit = 10 cm. If your object is very large, you may want to press Keyboard “a” to bring the object in full view.
Import a standard object like a cube or sphere object from LW to Soft to see if your import issue is not related to a broken file format or incompatibility.
If you have access to Blender or C4D, try to open the file with those programs and export back the object file from those programs. Sometime it works.
Hope that help!

Well, thanks for your messages, first.
In fact; I have 2 saved files: “._untitled.obj” and “untitled.obj” But none of them will open with “Import>Obj File”
Perhaps here is a way to go trought ?
Or is there a bug with Mac=PC again ???
I shall try throught Blender but the first tries are not very effectives…
Thanks anyway and ... Sioux later !

I assume you followed these instruction as well:
http://softimage.wiki.softimage....xportingWithPointOven.htm
If you want, you can PM me one of your object file and I can try to open it at my end.
