I am using the premade head in xsi.  I have created some hair that sits on top of it that is made of a few polygons.  I want the hair to move with the head.  so that if i move the head the hair comes too.  So far I have parented the hair to the head but that doesn’t seem to work.

I have a basic skeleton in the head to make it move but again, the hair doesn’t move

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

If you created a separate piece of polygons for the hair, parent that model to the head. You also can select a bunch of polygons on the head and create hair on that selection only. So it will be all one model.

hope that helps.

Thanks Rob.  I have parented it to the head.  But it still doesn’t seem to work.  Is it something to do with the default xsi head that I am using perhaps?
I parented the bits of hair together (it is 2 polygons) and they move together just still not with the head.

Hi
I just tried parenting the hair to the bone effector and it stays now when i move the skeleton.  I doubt this is the best way to do this but it works for me now.

Hmmm… Open up the Schematic window, and be sure that the polygon model is parented to the head instead of the hair.
If you create the hairs and directly parent the result to the head, it will parent the hair.
In that case, because the polygons are emitting, the hair will not follow. Just be sure to pick the emitting geometry before parenting, and it should work just fine.

Parenting it to the bone will work as well, it all depends on your rigging methods I guess. For me I prefer to parent all inside the model before rigging it to bones.

And be aware of child compensation. When turned on it will give you the ability to move the parent without affecting the children.
