Symmetrical Modeling

I have seen people modeling only half of an object, while the other half is symmetrically doing the exact same actions as the side being edited. I was wondering how you do this seeing as how that would cut down the modeling time in half, or actually more if you consider aligning everything perfectly on both sides. Any info would be greatly appreciated.:rockon:

Okay. New question. After you delete half of the cube and then click Clone Single, how are you supposed to rotate the object to the other side of the cube to form a whole one again. I watched that entire video over and over again and he never had this problem. I realize he put in a negative value in the scale option, but when I put -1 (or anything else in it for that matter) the cloned object won’t budge. I don’t know if there is an error in my scaling option where it won’t take in any values or what. But it’s starting to get annoying to not be able to have exact numbers in that scale, translate, or rotate panel. I don’t want to “come close” to the location of my model, I want exact locations with no decimal points. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it isn’t -1, it is acctualy current negative number, in his case it is -1 because it was 1, he negate it so he could mirror it by specific axe

when you delete half of original, clone it, move the pivot point to position of point or group of points which you want to negative scale by and then negative scale the clone

another way is to use Clone Multiple with Options, and set number of copes to 1, and on transform tab, scale it with -1 by axe you want to mirror it

Never mind about all of this. I finally figured it out after fiddling around with it. Took me forever, though. It seems as if I have to click off of the object after I clone it first. Then select it again to be able to scale it. Really weird, but whatever works man. Later taters.
