I was wondering if that’s also possible with xsi?
If yes some terms to search on or a tutorial link would be very helpfull.

You can use Ultimapper to generate your ambient occlusion and normal map from your detailed geometry, then take the AO map which already has your shadowing detail into Photoshop and paint color on it or whatever you want to do as shown in the video.
I actually use this method for creating textures because I lack the artistic ability to create detailed textures from scratch.
