I have post this message on Ogre3D forum. But it’s a Softimage specific question so maybe some Softimage users can help :
“Hello,
I have some questions regarding Ogre3D dotscene exporter :
a. about the pass node : we can specify a specular color, but not the shininess parameter. Is there a workaround?
b. the pass node show a ShaderRef port : how can I plug a RealTime shader on this material?
Thank You,”
(sreenshot is Ogre3D dotscene custom display)

Hi, where can I find this Ogre shaders for XSI?
Until now I used an OGLCom node for the realtime conection when I wanted to export to Ogre, but this shaders offer much more options and control.
Are they in the Ogre website?

Do you know any way to export whole levels out of XSI into Ogre instead of just single models?

Thanks.

Hello,

I’m not a developer! But as far as I know, Ogre (SDK or Source?) comes with tools for Softimage. They are compiled for XSI 5.11. They are build upon the mesh exporter and can export .scene (multiple mesh with their own positions, hierarchy, lights, camera, fog, custom viewport...). In this package there are also Ogre Material Nodes. We have recompiled this for Softimage 7.0. It works properly except :
- specular level is not exported
- transform animations are difficult to setup (no documentation, and it seems that only one animation is exported).

for more info :

What could be nice is that all studios working with Softimage/Ogre collaborate to enhance this great tool ? If you want to have our compiled tools send me a private message.
/Regards,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I hope someone can help you with these questions and I would also like to know how many people are using XSi and Ogre in a project and see some of their work.

Best regards.

About the usage of Ogre3D :
http://www.ogre3d.org/downloads/OGREUserSurvey2008_Results.pdf

In our company we use Softimage and Ogre3D for serious games, our clients are in the field of aero. and medical.

I have notice that a company based in Bordeaux (France) have a very nice workflow with Softimage/Ogre3D :

By the way : the workflow with 3ds max seems better, but I’ve been told that 3ds max .scene introduce prioritary nodes, and it’s not “officially” supported yet.
