Hello all!

I am trying to set up a render through a batch file. But the batch render says “feature not available”. I have an essentials license in the same computer.

I am testing to see if in batch render MR manages the memory better when using Irradiance Particles.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Javier

Are you running XSI? You will have to exit XSI if you want to use xsibatch.

If that is not the problem, can you show the entire output from xsibatch?
There will always be some “feature not available” warnings, but eventually xsibatch should get a license.

For example:

License warningfeature [XSI Batch Win] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Batch All] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Batch] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Batch Universal Win] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Batch Universal All] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Batch Universal] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Advanced Win] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Advanced All] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Advanced] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Essential Win] not available
License warning
feature [XSI Essential All] not available
License information
using [XSI Essential]

Hello and thanks for your answer.

XSI is closed.
The batch utility start and then it disappears so fast that i can’t hardly read the rest of the info.
Do you know how I could stop it from closing when it’s finished?
Could you point me to a very simple bat script?

is there a way also to stop the command prompt from instantly disappearing?

thanks a million
Javier

- Open a command prompt (click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > SOFTIMAGE XSI 7.0 > Command Prompt).

- run your xsibatch in that command prompt

hello

That is one of my problems :o
when I do that the prompt “promptly” disappears. If flashes in and out.
How can I make it stay open?

cheers

When you click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > SOFTIMAGE XSI 7.0 > Command Prompt, the command prompt does not stay open?

Can you even run XSI on the machine?

On XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and click OK.
Then do this:

cd C:\Softimage\XSI_7.0\Application\bin
setenv
.bat
xsibatch
-h

Hello!
Yes, the command prompt disappears and I can run XSI with no problems.
but using the work around with the cmd window it works, now I just have to make a good batch statement.

And you were very right eventually it does say : License information: using [Xsi essentials win]

thanks a lot

Javier

Thanks for your help but I had no luck.
Mental Ray keeps crashing when trying to use irradiance particles.
Is very fussy about the settings and about the memory.
it feels an alpha release as far as MR 3.6 is.

but I did learn something new, thanks

Has anyone got this up and working with 7.0 Essentials. I have used 100 morphs of this command ( xsibatch -render “C:\Data\My Game Resourses\XSI\Tutorials\Scenes\BlockA.scn”, from the SI Command Prompt ) and I keep getting a single 1k file (.pic). This file can not be opened with the Flipbook.

/* Here’s the log */

C:\Softimage\XSI_7.0_x64\Application\bin>xsibatch -render “C:\Data\My Game Resou

My “overall” problem was the fact that I had not frozen the model. The render aborted right away. ;) hth
