Hi all,
I have been a max user for years and am more or less a newish softimage user.
I have a question regarding making a Blend material in softimages rendertree.
I basically want a material that has a top layer of paint,in some areas it has been chipped awat driven by a alpha map and a metalic shader revealed.
in max it was a case of using a blend shader, make your 2 shaders and use a alpha map to drive the blend betewen them...any ideas?

These are known as “Texture Layers” which are a tab at the bottom of the material manager window.

Once you have a basic shader, you add a layer to it (right click - add layer), and once added you click the Texture Layer tab and add the new layer to the shader stack. Then you can use alpha masks to control how much of the different layers are shown/mixed together.

Strange workflow but that’s how Softimage does it.
