This is slightly OT but I’m kinda in unfamiliar territory here.  I have several, small, pda/cell phone things I need to animate.  These devices have a very fancy UI...kind of like the iPhone.  I have this pretty intricate flash movie that someone put together to demo what its like to sort through menus, view pictures, etc.  Is there a way that I can record or output specific sequences in that file to use as say an animated texture map for my 3d setup?  I know nothing about Flash so I’m wondering if this is:

A.  Something I need a Flash pro to dissect...open to recommendations for any Flash freelancers if this is needed

or

B.  Something I can record or break apart with some sort of 3rd party app (I don’t want a simple Camtasia like capture because I don’t want the mouse cursor visible).

Thanks.

If you have access to the flash scene file (.flv) I’m pretty sure there are options to export the scene as a video file. If so then it’s easy after that.

You could of course try the SWFi plugin to just import the whole thing and use it as is. That plugin is wicked btw. http://www.xsibase.com/forum/index.php?board=29;action=display;threadid=35764

If all else fails, look for something to convert a .swf to a movie.

Sorry I’m on my laptop and don’t have flash on this thing. Hope it helps a little though.

Thanks Gene.  I don’t have the flv file at the moment...just an swf.  I’m sure I can get the flv so I may have to go that route.  Was just curious if there’s an easy way to just export from swf to something like a quicktime or avi.  There doesn’t seem to be too many choices for converting from swf for PC.....a few scary looking apps.  The swf2xsi plugin is great but this is a very graphical swf movie with lots of photos, transparent layers, etc.

Ok I just checked the export formats on another computer and you have quite a few. .avi, .mov, .gif, .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png. Those last 4 are image sequences.

Contact me off list if you want me to pump out an image sequence for ya.

Sweet...my lucky night.  This app worked like a dream.  Great options and settings and you can interact with the flash movie while capturing.  Output quality is great too:
