hi im trying to create the light trails shader in the bikes of this trailer

Which part, the glow ?

On a side note, it appears all hollywood is doing is recreating old shows or movies or comics.  For those behind the scenes from lighters to artists this is excellent because it shows there is alot of work in the industry. From a general viewer point of view it just shows old things being re-done.

this looks like something you’d do in a compositor, not a 3D app.

Just paint up a polygon grid and have it hang behind the bike using deformation by curve to deform the grid as it follows.  Apply a gradient texture to the grid to get the nice trails and ramps going, then render into it’s own pass.  In the compositor you’d play around with the color and intensity to create the glow effect.
