Hello there… This is probably going to get me slapped on the back of my head, anyway…
Im’ using mod tool 6.01 to render characters for a 2d game. I set my scene with a custom ortho camera and… Surprise: the camera renders all the elements in the scene. This means lights, the animated character and its rig - including nulls and curves. I tinkered with my scene objects rendering options and got no result. Any tips?
I simply hope I’m not stuck with this until Autodesk sends me a key for my Foundation copy…
See you and thanks in advance.

How are you rendering with Mod Tool?

Hello.
Hardware, of course. It seems I’ll have to make everything invisible when rendering. I need to make sure this is a standard “feature” and not a mistake/bad from my part…

Yes, you’ll need to hide everything else.  Read up on groups and layers; they’d allow you to easily hide/unhide the stuff.

Also, remember to hide the grid with g shortcut.  And look at the stuff in Visibility Options (next to the camera icon in the viewport).

Hardware typically means OpenGL (which is what the viewports use by default), so what you see in the viewport is what you get with the hardware render (it’s the only option Modtool allows). There will be no option in the render options to change this when using hardware.

As David suggested, using groups and scene layers allow for a quick way to hide and unhide desired elements quickly.
