I’m trying to follow the ‘unfold_body’ flv in the video tutorials,

http://webrel2.softimage.com/ope...r/07_Unwrapping_Part1.flv

http://webrel2.softimage.com/ope...r/08_Unwrapping_Part2.flv

http://webrel2.softimage.com/ope...r/09_Unwrapping_Part3.flv

I got to the part
where you ‘island heal to picked’ the tiny bits. There are tiny bits stuck to the
main uv map arms , could someone give me a hint on what to do to these, I’ve never
unfolded in Softimage before, like do I want to disconnect them somehow and
then I could island heal them?

With those “tiny bits” selected you could try to relax(ctrl+r) to spread them back out again, or you could apply a subprojection to them such as Planar Best Fit then scale and move them back into position.

I’ve decided to go with planar except for the head
http://terrymorgan.net/images/lloyd_planar.jpg

It’s what I know from using 3ds max. I tried out roadkill, haven’t had much luck yet,
but it does highlight the stray vertices (blue edges) I should delete these edges and make
single edges?

http://www.pullin-shapes.co.uk/page8.htm Roadkill! The plugin doesn’t work for me but the standalone looks promising.

To get road kill to work in XSi is pretty easy :

Just get yourself python :
http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5.2/
‘python-2.5.2.msi ‘( or the version for your OS)

Then get ‘pywin32-210.win32-py2.5.exe’
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=78018

Oncee theres are installed install the XSI roadkill plugin :

http://www.siteground118.com/&#x...adkill/RoadKillPlugin.zip

Copy the unpacked file to C:\users\###\Softimage\XSI_6.5\Application\Plugins (replace ### with your details).

The go to the left hand panel in XSI, select Model->Property->Texture Projection->RoadKill :)

make sure to check out :

and

These are the great people that have peovided us with this magic tool.

Have Fun

Thanks, I did all that (not those versions), but I get an error with that one,
the XNA level plugin script and the measure_tool.py script, everything
else runs.

when you talk about errors please include the error message. ‘I get an error’ isn’t enough information if we’re to help you. :-)

Same as here:

http://community.softimage.com/showthread.php?p=4039

I’m getting the ‘has errors and could not be loaded’ error with the XNA_level_editor.py,
the RA_measuretools.py and the Roadkill.py, yes I have Python Action script as my default.
Using Mod Tool.

I got the new python stuff, but the pywin is only for python 2.2, which I don’t have, it wouldn’t install,
should I add python 2.2 to my 2.1 2.4 2.5 collection of pythons?

python 2.2 didn’t help. I tried to install pywin (it only does python 2.2) and it said I didn’t have enough priveleges.

Make sure to minimize stretching as much as possible when using that method
