Hi, I came across this video that show modo can paint normal maps besides I don’t use modo. I didn’t watch the video as it requires me to install QT and I refuse to install it,the only other option is the nVidia normal map tool, is there not a way to create it entirely within photoshop to have more control ? One tool I came across to do that was nDo which is a photoshop action, I couldn’t change the file path in the action so I have partially threw it to the wind. Any suggestions?
This could be spread across the SI, Maya & Max forums for more variety of input.

Try using Xnormal, it’s free, and comes with plugins for photoshop, and most 3d apps, the application itself supports import/export of fbx, obj formats, as well as several others.
Though i haven’t used the aplication itself much (can’t really get the hang of it :p), the photoshop plugins that it installs are quite useful, and extremely easy to use, compared to the Nvidea filter plugin (the documentation of which seems very lacking)
My 3D work: here and here.
