I use sIBL (recent version of sIBL_GUI_XSI & sIBL_GUI) and transfer the sIBL file from the Library in sIBL GUI 3. Scene textures look washed out and the texture on one of my objects doesn’t show the texture rather equal to a ping lambert color. This has puzzled me for quite some time, I have no technical problems with sIBL_GUI or sIBL_GUI_XSI everything is up to date and has installed successfully.

You probably are doublin the Gamma.
There are several things to check:

1) photographic exposure gamma setting, check if its 1.0 or 2.2
2) preference settings in Softimage, check how your Gamma is set there
3) sIBL comes with a panel in wich it let you change the gamma there check if its at 1.0 or 2.2
4) check your textures input they should be set in sRGB

My guess is you are doubling the gamma due to preferences in softimage, it can show you the 2.2 gamma in preview and render region if you enable this into preferences but then if you add a photographic exposure with gamma 2.2 you just add it on top of the preferences, so it washes out.

You are probably right, my gamma settings in Softimage are 2.2 all my texture were created in a gamma of 1.0 and I set all of sIBL Controls to Gamma 1.0 for each setting, but the washed out look continues.

this is how i setup my softimage for linear workflow:

Then i use the photographic exposure with gamma 2.2 if i want to save straight without compositing later, if i need compositing i put exposure gamma 1.0.

Never had any problem, show me your settings or share a simple scene so i can help.

They don’t match because you mentioned to you wanted to see my settings, so I showed you my settings.  I’ve mimicked your settings, but the washed out look continues.

Langdon - Could you show me a image using your pass break up, I want to do a comparison with sIBL lighting. It’s been a little while, I don’t have old reference :)
