Max 2010
I have a bad Product Key

I read under AUTODESK License FAQs anyway, that I should be able to install my student Max on a school computer, and my laptop (so I can work off campus).

I did install my Max copy 2 Times already - on the same computer, once 64 bit, second 32 bit....the application I am producing to work with has to be 32 or the plugins I have to use don’t work in Max 64.

Also, I have to use these other tools that only work in 32 XP (my school computer).

If it’s just not ok, oh well...but it would really help my dev. pipeline!!

Also, I would choose the XP 32 computer to run on not the 64 laptop Max is on BUT I am afraid to uninstall if it is tracking how many times I have installed.

I HAVE NO TRANSFER LICENSE BUTTON OPTION FROM WITHIN MAX - ** I READ THAT I SHOULD HAVE THIS, no go.

Thanks in advance.

This is a Softimage forum, not 3ds Max.

You transfer licenses with the License Transfer Utility.

The License Transfer Utility is on the Windows Start menu (click Start > All Programs > Autodesk > Autodesk 3ds Max 2011 64-bit > License Transfer Utility).

The number activations is tracked, not the number of installations.
When you reinstall on the same computer, you don’t need to activate the serial number each time.

Thank you.

I did have to activate my software both times (64 then 32) in order to run it and find my initial trouble with 64..

Adobe has someone that I can call and recover an un-deactivated license (my computer died and I couldn’t deactivate from within the system, then I couldn’t use my software when I rebuilt)....similar problem now.

Is there an Autodesk help line?  I posted on a License forum, but, I haven’t gotten any response and my post is headed for the weeds.

I have a suite of software with my package, so it’s not just Max, but Max is what I have to have right now.
