Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this.  First I couldn’t activate windows again after a reformat, and now XSI actication is not working properly either.  It claimed I was trying to activate a dongle license instead of an spl(I think it was) license.

I’ve done the same procedure over and over again a hundred times since I reformat windows at least 10 times a year due to various problems and just having a ‘fresh’ system.  I’ve never gotten this error before.

Could something be wrong that is somehow messing up ALL activation software?

Any ideas are welcome,
Neil

I just activated Foundation Registration code and it worked on my side, so the service is running.

I suspect after your format that your license server is configured for a dongle. To set it to the correct type for foundation, edit the spm-config.ini file:

Start the license manager and click edit config.ini; or manually open the file in c:\spm\

Where is says ‘DONGLE_TYPE=SI0’
change it to ‘DONGLE_TYPE=SLP’

click save

try to activate your license again

Actually, probably not.

The error message that says “Your registration code is valid, but your request code is for a dongle.” is displayed for a variety of different errors, most of which have nothing to do with the DONGLE_TYPE setting :-(
