Would like to switch to Standalone License for Softimage 2010.

I have a Desktop and a lap top and I would like to switch from my network license to a standalone license.

I recently had to obtain a new IP address for my home network and now the license server does not recognize an interactive license for Softimage 7.5. I just installed Softimage 2010 and I’d rather just go with the standalone license. Can you please assist?

I think you shouldn’t ask to change to a standalone license, that’s a downgrade.
Network license are more expensive and more flexible as you can use them from any machine.  standalone are locked to a machine.  Normally you should be able to just set the new IP address in your license file

Hi

What is the problem with the Support Request Form? Other customers have submitted requests so I know it works. Are you using IE, or are you using some other browser (if so, try with IE)?
Are you on Vista? (I’ve seen some strange behavior from the request form on my Vista box).

Generally a change of IP address should not matter, unless you are using the IP address in the license file, or as the value of ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE.

I would check whether your Ethernet address has changed (for example, if you have a new IP because you changed IP providers, you may now have a new Ethernet address).

Sorry for the delay in getting back. I had to take care of other things. After Going to the wiki and trying everything on the video I still can’t get up and running. I’m using my IP address in the LIC file instead of my PC name. The license server is running.

The path to my .lic file is C:\Program Files\Autodesk Network License Manager\SFTIM7enlicense.lic

At my wits end, any ideas?

That shows that the license server is up and running, and that a 7.5 license is installed.

Are you able to start 7.5?

Do you have a 2010 license that you need to install?
If so, see http://xsisupport.wordpress.com/2009/09/03/installing-your-new-2010-network-license/

No, I am not able to start 7.5.

I just registered my license for 2010 and followed the steps in your link.

Can’t run 2010 either. No interactive license available.

Hi

The license server is up and running with your 2010 license, so the problem appears to be Softimage: it cannot connect to the license server.

Can you ping the license server?
For example, if the license server is named “example”, then run ping example
You can use the IP address in place of the computer name.

Can you telnet to port 2080 ?
For example, if the license server is named “example”, then run telnet example 2080
Note that on Vista and Windows 7, telnet is not installed by default.

If ping and telnet connect, then check the FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICS. Post the diagnostics here, or send me a PM if you prefer.

Thanks
