I have an academic version of Softimage with maintanence contract. I was working with WinXP Pro 32 bit and it took about three weeks to get Softimage 2010 set up. I had to
reformat the computer to install Win 7 64 bit.
I cannot get Softimage to run, even though I can get the license server to recognize my licence file.
Here is what I have done: I followed the videos to get the license server running and went to autodesk runonce to get a new license.
I restarted the license server and it read the new license. I performed the serve inquiry and the license server is indeed running.
However, Softimage still says “no interactive license”. I looked at the video tutorial, and it talks about modifying the autodesk.lic file. There is no such file on my computer
(Softimage 2010 sp1). I don’t know if this is the problem, but I cannot modify a file that doesn’t exist. I could create a new file with notepad, but it looks like the licenses
are put in a different directory in Softimage 2010 compared with 7.5.
Edited: I solved the problem. I used the IP address after uninstalling and reinstalling Softimage 2010 (not service pack) and everything now works.
