| Permanent License problem after Trial License runs out
|
|
|
I’ve being running XSI 7 using the trial license as I hadn’t gotten the 7 license at the time I downloaded it. I thought there would be no problems once the trial license ran out and that it would automatically recognise the XSI 7 permanent license, but it doesn’t seem to. I’m getting this message:
License error:
Error: there is no interactive license available to run XSI
Do you want to start License Manager?
I say yes, License Manager opens, the server is running (that probably coz I’ve still got 6.5 installed and I can open that no problem) and when I go to download and install licenses it runs ok and I’ve also tried to assign licenses and the license for 6.5 and 7 are listed but there is no option to assign.
Anyone got any solutions? please.

I had a similar problem. It was only resolved by removing every Softimage product from my computer including the SMP folder, then, loading up a fresh XSI 7 and running it. The default seems to be SLP server type so I had to change that in the new License Manager to SIO. Then download the existing permanent license which then runs with the dongle as the 6.5 and trial did previously.
I think it was probably not necessary to remove everything but I had wasted a lot of time tinkering with my setup and this solution worked for me.
I hope this works for you, Al

There is no reason to remove everything Softimage-related from your computer.
What licenses do you have installed?
Click Query Usage and then click Run Query.
Is there a 7.0 license installed?

Ok, when I did the query it wasn’t showing 7 which is odd because I had also tried manually adding the keys which I had received from Softimage for 7 and it said it was already running.
Anyway I found and re-saved the license keys again, manually loaded them and it now works. :whistling:
Yeah ...
Sorry alpeck you had to go through all that, but probably like you I had tried everything.
Thanks StephenBlair. :)
