Lets face it, the only reason they bought Softimage was because of the new ice technology and it seems to me that they are determined to buy out any company that develops software that is better than the ones they currently own. I just hope the US govt steps in and puts a limit on their aquisition of all hi-end 3d software. Its just ridiculous that they own the top 3 programs, Max, Maya and now Softimage XSI. I mean, where will it stop, Cinema4d, Houdini, Lightwave , Modo ,Zbrush, Mabe even Rhino etc. All i can say is thank god i bought Foundation v5 from Avid before Autodesk got their hands on it. I will use this program to recover my 2000 odd Australian dollar investment and then i will make damn sure in the future that i NEVER EVER use an Autodesk Product ever again. I have 7.5 installed on my home PC now, along with the license server and after some fiddling about opening ports my laptop can see the license server and run Softimage on my laptop....so long as it's sitting on my desk sharing the wireless network. What do I do now? How do I go about 'borrowing' the license to allow me to take my laptop away? I've tried to read the license documentaion pdf, but I can't make head nor tail of it - I can't find a 'borrow license' option in Softimage itself; do I need LMTools on my Laptop too? Basically, xsibatch renders with whatever renderer is selcted in the scene file(in this case, Vray). I have 5 licenses for network rendering, but 7 machines on my farm(I also use Modo, which is unlimited). Does xsibatch use up my licenses based on Mental Ray being used as the chosen render engine? All notifications and the splash screen end up between monitor one and two (I have 4 monitors). The second thing that happens is that all the buttons/shelf that is at the top are missing and I can add no custom shelf/tabs. I've tried updating the drivers and picking GPU 1 of 2 for the open GL rendering (GPU 1 is driving monitor 1 and 2, GPU 2 is driving monitor 3 and 4). Doesn't seem to matter. I end up having to disable monitors 3 and 4 to get it to work properly. I tried setting everything back to default view but still no toolbars at the top.
