Greetings all

I’m about to upgrade my system (processor, mb, ram, os etc.), and was wondering if I should expect any issues when re-installing XSI edu 6.5?

Is the EDU ver able to use the deactivate ability in the license manager ?

I ask as since there is no dongle, I imagine its based off a mac address or the likes (which is going to be different due to the new MB), and I believe I seen somewhere during purchase that the edu is not a floating license, so I’m just a little curious at the moment.

Cheers.

Phil

You have to deactivate your license first.

To deactivate a license:

Start the License Manager (click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager).

In the menu bar, click Server > Deactivate.

In the License Deactivation dialog box, enter your softimage.com login name and password, and your registration code.

Click Deactivate.
Then after you upgrade your system, you can re-activate your license:

To activate a license:

Start the License Manager (click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager).

Click Get License.

Under Registration Code Activation, enter your softimage.com logon information and your registration code.

Click Activate.
Looks like I maybe contacting support after all. :)

Although I got a message saying deactivation was successful etc, when I try the following on the upgraded system I get :-

License Manager | Get License

I enter in my details and reg code, click activate and it informs me that although the code is correct, its being used by one or more machines. I only have it on one (none at the moment heh), and when generating a request code, I get an error saying I should contact support as the dongle on SPL cannot be used.

Hi Phil

Yes, send us () an e-mail message with your registration code.

Ignore the message about the dongle, that message means only that an error has occurred.
