I’ve been trying to connect a weight map to control hair density, but when I pick the map I’ve transferred to the hair object, I get an error mesage and no connection:

PropertyTransfer “beard”, “beard_emitter.polymsh.cls.WeightMapCls.beardDensity”
SelectObj “beard”
‘ ERROR : 2003 - Interface not supported. - [line 10711 in C:\Softimage\XSI_6.02\Application\DSScripts\uixsiscripts.vbs]
‘ ERROR : Class doesn’t support Automation: ‘AutoInspect’ - [line 273 in C:\Softimage\XSI_6.02\Application\DSScripts\operators.vbs]
ApplyOp “MapCompOp”, “beard_emitter.polymsh.cls.WeightMapCls.beardDensity;beard.hair.Density;beard.hair.cls.WeightMapCls.beardDensity”

Does anyone know what’s wrong ?

Probably your weightmap is corrupt for some reason or your hair op. Could be some clusters bugging the weightmap too. Try to make just a quick weightmap on the hair you already got and if it still doesn’t work make a simple new hair with new weightmap. That way you can track the problem origin. If nothing works either you’re doing something else wrong or it’s just XSI in a mood....

Thanks for your reply, Nuno, it seems to have been the latter; I tried to connect it again a couple of days later and everything worked perfectly. Maybe if this problem occurs, it’s worth closing and re-opening XSI…

Hey there, I realize this is pretty old but I found myself here after encountering the same problem and thought I’d share a possible solution. Try unchecking Immed editing mode and re-connecting the map, seems to do the trick here.
