Just tried to test out some hair stuff in 7 and found this…

Hair in the viewport-

That was hair coming off a subdivided cube.

Yeah it’s a glitch. Does the same with me. It might have something to do with the way that xsi hair interpolates the sub-d’s hulls for optimization purposes.

Still doing that you’re wasting triangles. Both the default sphere or an octahedron with the geo-phase set to 2 or 3 have way less triangles than a cube with the sub-d’s set to 2 and still about the same roundness.
