Softimage or Maya?

I have been browing through the website and I came across softimage. I have taught myself alot of Maya and am getting pretty profesh at it now and I like using the program and what it can do butttttttt.... I looked at the softimage website and saw how amazing the stuff it could do looked. - It uses Mental Ray - It has realtime rendering - It can modell and so on.... Now I have been making alot of models for games etc in maya, why should I bother with Maya and 3DS max etc when Softimage appears to do the same but more? Is it worth moving to SoftImage?

Why softimage modtools slow with my graphic card?

hi i recently buy a graphics card exactly this: this supposed this must run good, but is not. I haven't used a graphics card before, just the chipset that have the motherboard by default that run with DirectX 9 and softimage ran better Why? someone can tell me what i have to do to solve it?

I'm working in a animated model for xna now when I create my animation this was so short so I decide extend with the Animation Mixer editor, I've copy all curve keys to a mixer then I clear the time line of all keys and then i extend the animation in the Mixer editor and then I make a Plot of all curves then I clear the middle keys that change to do not use all, if i'm goin to use the nulls keys then I make another plot for all nulls "that make as bones when i export to fbx" and when I've test the time in the xna the model have a nasty deform all mesh bended. And I've imported the same model to softimage and this has a good animation just how I been imported how i fix that?

I have figured out how to invert the normals of a polygon but can any tell me the steps required to have independant textures on both sides of the same polygon? i have looked through several tut's and videos and cant find anything. i know its going to be something really simple that i missed but any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance

Hi there, I am trying to find autodesk FBX support for softimage 7.5 mod tool, as shown here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=13571257 , " Export to Other Engines, FBX, COLLADA Add-ons are available that enable export to Crytek CryENGINE® 2, Valve® Source™ engines, and Epic Unreal Engine 3. Softimage Mod Tool 7.5 also exports Autodesk® FBX® software and COLLADA files for engines that support it. " Clicking on Autodesk FBX link shows no such plugin, but for maya and Max. thx for any info on this. cheers nl

hello, i am currently using softimage 7.5 64-bit on a 24 GB RAM workstation. in mudbox 2011 64-bit, the computer uses all the 24 GB of ram while i am sculpting. but, when i use softimage 7.5 64-bit, the computer only uses 2.85 GB! is there any solution to this problem? thanks

I am a beginner at this and I was wondering the best way to shade or paint a motorcycle to look real and then put my own decals on it like stripes or more artistic design of my own on it. I am not there yet still modeling but I am looking for future reference. I have seen a tutorial on texture layering and I was wondering if that's what I have to do. Any input would be most appreciative. I have the Autodesk Mod Tool.
