Fairly new to pano’s, I’m still getting up to speed on workflow, best use of programs, ect.
I’ve been using both Stitcher and PTmac. My impressions of Stitcher are generally good, but its maddening why this program is being left just short of being a fantastic tool.
The batch rendering is the most glaring omission, as it the lack of multiprocessor. Further shortfalls are the hotspots. Not being able to insert something decent as a graphic to replace the cheap rectangles Stitcher lets you draw. Have not looked at the Movie function, but again, the documentation suggests a no big deal feature. I’ll have to look closer, if this could be tied in with the hotspots perhaps a multi room real estate tour in a single QTRV Mov file could be possible.
Has anyone anything to share with their experiences on the Render settings? The documentation is not crystal clear on what the “Best Size” slider is really doing. Has anyone already done the trial and error curve and wish to share settings they have found give the best tradeoff of size vs quality.
I’ve been using 80 and 80 (on the Jpg quality). Been feeding in Tifs that have been converted from Camera Raw with the standard Adobe tools. After that I do tweaking in Photoshop of the panno and resize down to 4000x1000 for a JPG that is about 1Meg in size for use in Web display pannos.
I’ve been shooting with a Tokina 12-24 (10 at +30 tilt, 10 at -30 tilt and then one up and one freehand down after taking the tripod away. The Tokina is an excellent lens, the 12 being the lowest non fish eye you can go. Nice for shots where time is not a concern, but have recently ordered a Sigma 8MM to use on jobs where 4 and an up will cut onsite time by a huge margin.
So, thats my introduction.
