I downloaded trial 2009 a week ago to test running on 64bit vista. it worked except for stencil more than one stencil. I was satisfied with the result, so I tried to buy the version, but the menu doesn’t permit upgrade purchase and when I went to online store upgrade it doesn’t list stitcher 2009 as a product. what to do?

seems that stitcher is on the verge of being dropped by autodesk, save your money and look into PTGUI or Autopano -
stitcher has no future, recent “upgrades” (past 5.6) only remove batch rendering and add autodesk branding, pretty much a total rip off of loyal customers

It turns out that I could update through my 5.6 version, rather than through the 2009 unlimited and I did. It was farmed out to Plimus to handle the transaction.
I agree it doesn’t look too good for the users of the original line. It reminds me of a couple of past products I’ve used from the initial sale, to be bought up by the big corporations, put to pasture in a very short time, and then the buying company puts out what would have been competing software or hardware.

i’ve given up on autodesk stitcher ever catching up to the competition at this point, it seems this app has been essentially frozen for about 4 years now - no multi processor support, no batch render (removed in 5.7), and completely disinterested developers and management
i am assuming that it is so far out of date at this point that the devs have basically given up on ever making this app competitive with PTGUI, Autopano, etc, and that a total rewrite of the code is the only way to catch up ?
please, someone from autodesk correct me if i am wrong
autodesk just discontinued image modeler, looks like this year will be the end of stitcher as well
