Can there be any kind of fix or discussion from Autodesk Stitcher Support as far as what this forum is for other then bashing support.  I’m not defending them by any means!!!  Can anything be done here to straighten out this dilemma? I like the product and do not want to stop using it, but if there is not even a reply from support on the support forum - then there is no support!!!  Please prove me wrong!

There seems to be an irresolvable difference with AutoDesk’s idea of “things” and those of us who have used Stitcher for years - not that it was hugely different when Realviz ran the show. I’ve always found it curious that silence was/is the response to genuine inquiry on the part of us users. What better environment to understand/interact with the needs of the people who use your products?

Realviz never really understood this - and AutoDesk is sucking the marrow out of Realviz’s intellectual property - good business move.

Unfortunately there will not be another Stitcher version of any merit… the pattern is so typical - acquire, ingest, eliminate.

And what would be the purpose of Autodesk’s purchase of Realviz if it were not to put out a new version?  What IP did realviz have other than Stitcher?

realviz made several products other than stitcher, i believe matchmover’s underlying technology was autodesks primary interest here, the tech from that (now discontinued) product is now part of maya

VTour was a great unique product from realviz that had much promise, it has also been discontinued by autodesk, press release said its tech “may” be incorporated into a future product some day…

ImageModeler was another popular realviz product for photogrammetric modeling, also discontinued as a stand alone product, it is now only avail to maya “subscribers”

meanwhile, Autodesk Stitcher has not seen any relevant updates since autodesk aquisition (other than new interface icons) or bugfixes (buggy features like batch render are removed rather than fixed), there seems to be no product manager or oversight whatsoever, customer bug reports & questions are completely ignored, no 64 bit or multi-processor support, no product roadmap, etc -

not to mention absolutely no response from autodesk on these issues whatsoever

see any pattern here ?

doesn’t really make much sense to me either, but since acquiring realviz in may 2008 autodesk has discontinued pretty much all of realviz’s products, stitcher is apparently the only one left !

Stitcher 2010 - RIP
