Pymel lets you work with Python in Maya in a more "pythonic" way. You can learn more about it at the Pymel Google Code page.

If you're in the Chicago area, you can get hands on with it at PyCon 2008. There's a Pymel Sprint where you can learn and even contribute to the project.

That was something I had on my wishlist, too. Now that Pymel is available, I would like to hear what people think the benefits are to an integrated solution over the existing solution.

I'm also interested in hearing about how many people are using Pymel and how.

Are there any thoughts to integrate Pymel or make Maya python more like Pymel? Pymel is exactly what I was hoping Maya python would be, ie a more object oriented way to work with a Maya scene from script.
