Happy 2008 everyone!

Over the holidays I was fortunate enough to unwrap a PS3 (Blu-ray!!) and proceeded to junk out on MotorStorm for days on end. I can’t say enough good things about the console, which is huge for a being a big PC gamer.

Next up: Call of Duty 4, which just so happens to be the best damn game ever made!

What did MotionBuilder receive over the holiday season to celebrate the new year? Nothing less than blowing away its record for most yearly sales. 2007 was a really hot year for MotionBuilder, breaking many of its sales records and we are quite confident that this is a sign of things to come. What does this mean for the community moving forward? More Motionbuilder everywhere! I’m talking about more companies using it, more users learning it, more scripts being created (and shared), more plug-ins being written, etc. - it's a snowballing effect.

Next up is GDC 2008 in San Francisco, which should be an awesome show. We are just finishing up our plans for what the MB team will be doing at GDC so stay tuned!

MotionBuilder Tech Alert - http://www.alias.com/glb/eng/support/knowledgebase/solution_details.jsp?type=Technical+Note&family=MotionBuilder&itemId=4478

Dual-Core issues on WinXP machines:

Some users with Dual Core machines have reported inconsistent performance and playback issues with MotionBuilder. Symptoms include stuttering, slowdowns and/or skipped frames. There have also been reports of data corruption while recording from custom devices created via the OpenReality SDK.
The following patch from Microsoft addresses this issue:

So make sure everyone has it installed. I am hoping Microsoft will put this in SP3 for Windows XP.

Cheers,

Curtis Garton
