Who schedules these things anyway? Read More
I'm supposed to be in Las Vegas for One Team Conference (pep rally for the channel) and in SF for GDC. At the same time... I'd much rather be in SF with all those crazy Game guys than wandering lost in Casino X, Y or Z. Right now, I'm stuck in Montreal for a whopper of a snow storm…

What do you like about 3ds Max/VIZ? Read More
OK, well I get beaten up on the forums for all the problems users run into (and the fact that many of them turn out to be user error is really an issue with the complexity of our products), so I was hoping that some of you who read this blog would actually give me ONE thing you like…

The best VIZ yet! Read More
In case you missed it, we announced VIZ 2008 as part of the global launch. What's unique about this VIZ release is that it has inherited the dramatic viewport performance improvements from 3ds Max 9 along with the new mental ray sun/sky and architecural & design shader. Plus, it has…

How about some productivity? Read More
Here's what happens when I let the designers control what we build. They were very frustrated that every release we tended to drop some small features that were less important than the major features in order to hit our quality/schedule. We're now trying to do the right thing by rolling…

Vista Read More
From what I see on the forums, it is hit or miss getting things to work with 3ds Max 9 and Vista (make sure you install w/Admin priveledges and right-click the 3ds Max icon to select properties->compatibillity tab->XP compatibility mode).

Computer history Read More
If you're as nerdy as I am, you'll enjoy watching this video of some of the pioneers of computer graphics discussing their early experiences.
