The evolution of resize and crop

One of my biggest pet peeves with putting content on the web is the constant need to crop and resize images to fit all the various resolutions and aspects necessary. First you can do it yourself which is fine if you have the time and not to much content or you can have it automated which means you will have many images messed up. Well someone is coming to our rescue with some very cool tech.

I was just sent a link to this Youtube video that demonstrates an algorithm for intelligent resize. The system essentially does both resize and cropping in a very intelligent way that maintains all the most important info while dropping the less important bits you won't notice are missing. You need to see the video to get see how cool this really is. Lets just say that removing that old significant other from picture just got a bit easier as well
