Does someone second what I said? Especialy about the need of an new GUI? Or everyone thinks it´s ok if it never changes… I not saying this is the priority because it is not, but it´s an natural consequence of a new software.

you can customize the GUI to be quite different from the nasty windows look. i have a short lesson on this in the “Freebies” section of my website.

mazarin - 18 June 2008 02:17 PM It´s a fact that 3ds max is an old, arcaid and ugly software that unbeliably still let us do amazing things.
.
thats not a fact, its your opinion.

Probably.
The one, possibly only, thing which MS ever got right with Windows was to provide a simple, clean and consistent interface. The same functionality in the same place working in the same way is a strength, not a weakness. Wanting the latest flashy desktop with pointless rotating cubes just because it’s “cool”, however, is.
Max 4.2 through 2009 (SP1), XP-Pro 64 SP2.
NVidia 8800GTX-768 (Driver 175.16).

Yes, a bit diferent in color but still old fashion in everything…
I design graphical user interface for software, and I would love to see a re-designed 3ds max GUI.

Perhaps, but this too is an old topic.
Do you have any idea of the level of outcry and user outrage if the UI was to suddenly change from one version to the next? Many people working years with this application know where things are. There are subtle changes in each version, but nothing really to upset the apple cart. Sure its not going to win any graphic design awards, but then again, I don’t buy a hammer for it looks.

New GUI really doesn’t matter. Max interface is pretty user friendly. new one might just confuse people and might slow down performance. i rather it worked well than looked pretty, your using it to work and create, not stare at pretty icons and fading windows that sparkle as they close or open.
