If your machine doesn’t have a lot of RAM, you are limited in what you can use for resources.  Redav said he uses 9000 x 6000 images, but likely has a lot of memory to handle them.

Actually, I’m using a 3gig P4 with 2gig of RAM and it’s almost three years old.  I really think that MAX has some limitation regarding the image size it will load and I’m surprised that not that many people come across it.  I guess that people using it for highway animations or projects using large imagery have a work around or there isn’t that many doing this.

My camera is almost on the ground, and i’m looking at a street, How come my maps seems all blurry, even with some spec and some bump. It’s fine when i look in my mat editor, but in the scene it’s all kind of blurry, does anybody know away to fix this? is there anything else to do than to boost up my bump and spec?
i’m new to realistic textures, so any help would be great!

I think that’s an antialiasing thing.  I too feel that imagery should be sharper.  This link had two side by side images that explained the difference I’m sure you’re talking about but they’ve gone (probably due to copyright) click on the link

Video cards can achieve nicer results on the fly so I don’t know why MAX can’t render better.  Try playing with the filtering options.  I’ve seen better results but not much better, especially for the render time trade off.  I think it’s because images are downsampled the further they are away from the viewpoint however horizontally you notice the loss of resolution and it looks softer.
