Are you sure about that? It seems to me that you aren’t willing to spend the time to learn. The tutorials have been very helpful to me and many others, so I’m not sure why they aren’t helping you. Not everything is going to be spelled out for you for exactly what you are trying to do. It takes some time.

Please suggest me that IN which 3ds Max version, Mental Ray is strong, powerful and efficient Only in Rendering, Material and Lights point of view (not from modeling point of view). Which Max version is most popular and adopted by most users.

You’ve already got a post asking this question, and I believe it has been answered there. Please don’t use other’s threads for your questions.

Hey benwoolleruk , i guess you should try looking at reference photographs of retail stores , if u
have already done that, then try to visit such stores where the whole showroom is lit by artificial lights. When
you talk about lighting with artificial lights its all about faking it!! for example adding ceiling lights alone dose not
help to lit the whole scene, you have to play around with fill lights with different intensities. may be if you can show
the model we might be able to help you out!!

ben....build your scene (if you haven’t already) , materialize it and start adding some photometric lighting....set your photographic exposure control to an interior setting...turn on FG and GI and maybe a diffuse bounce or 2....this should do it for ya....then look into adding further effects such as ambient occlusion

Adding diffuse bounces has no effect when using Global Illumination. It’s only if you are using Final Gather by itself.

I had to do a exterior rendering awhile back and the interior of the building was looking quite dark...I read in the help menu that using multiple diffuse bounces has no effect when using GI...but when I added 1 diffuse bounce to my rendering...the interior lit up nicely...so im not sure what happened there...i was always under the impression that you can’t use multiple diffuse bounces...but adding 1 bounce always seems to make a difference when I use GI

benwoolleruk....
I know that this is a bit late and from a user that doesn’t even have your skills from the look of it… I too find it very hard to learn from tutorials that are not specific to your exact requirements. i too am only interested in lighting my scenes with artificial light as in real life there will be zero natural light.
However after about 12 months of searching on and off for something which has not been made, i have given in and decided to bit the bullet. You have to go right back to basics and learn how to light a teapot on the floor of a large room. Even this sometimes becomes a challenge to find good meaning full tuts on as most tuts assume there will be some natural light.
I find “studio lighting” a good key word when looking for 100% artificial lighting tuts..
