Steve Curley - 23 August 2008 03:44 AM This begs the question of how Ivan managed to install only the 64bit version (if that is the case). The installer (setup.exe in the root directory of the DVD) gives you the option of 32 bit or (32bit + 64bit), in other words you can’t install just the 64bit. The only way to do so is to run the individual *.msi which is a really bad idea because they only install max, but the main setup installs .NET, DX9 and does all manner of “stuff” in the background without which the install could be - problematical. For a practical example of such problems see this thread.
Out of the same reason as Neil, Steve, why did I need a 32 copy of Max on a 64 bit machine and from some reason I didn’t know I’m allowed to do it. (My natural stupidity again.)
Anyway I installed my 64 bit version without any problem and I have been till now very happy with it.
Now after following Josef’s instruction I successfully installed the 32 bit version (parallel to the 64 bit one) from the DVD. I installed also a Quick Time Player.
After all this done now I am able to export and save Quick Time vr files without problems. Anyway my Windows 64 bit cannot render those files neither in the QT Player nor in the Panorama Exporter Viewer which surely is not a surprise.
The good news is that my 32 bit machine has no problems with that precious stuff or put into a few words my problem is solved. THANK YOU Josef and Steve!
This was a pretty acceptable workaround, thank you very much indeed.
