Johan,

It’s just a different way of looking at things… say I have a scene where I want 1 camera with vertical orientation and another with horizontal settings and another with square… if we use the proposal ITRYMYBEST suggested, you can have the render dialog set such that each camera retains it’s render parameters, so that the ratio of wxh is set independently for each camera.  It’s probable there are other ways to do this, but if you just want to select a camera with a set aspect, it would be easier this way.

That’s all… just a different way… but I haven’t checked to see if there are other ways that can achieve this since I’m way too busy away from Max these days.

You know, this might work as a scripted modifier for cameras.  The relevant render settings could be stored in the modifier, with a button to write them to the render scene dialog.  It probably wouldn’t handle every situation, but resolution, pixel aspect, time range, and a few renderer-specific settings might be enough for most productions, and infinitely preferable to the Most Holy Yellow Sticky of Camera Settings approach.

Forgive me if I’m being a bit dense this morning, but I have 1 question…

“Does the Preset feature within the Render Dialog store sufficient information for what you require?”

If so, then I might make the following suggestion.

Add a rollout to “cameras” containing:-
a checkbox “Auto-load render preset on selection”
an edit field (for the rednerpreset name) and a “file select” button
These would need to be stored somehow within the scene.

Scripting should (hopefully) be fairly simple. OnSelect (of the camera) open the Render Dialog, load the preset using the stored filename, close the dialog.

Obviously you would need to create the preset through the existing “SavePreset” option.

Would that work? or am I in the wrong ballpark?
