Digital-Tutors Unveils New Training for Popular Visual Guide Series

Break into film, television, game and commercials with twenty comprehensive educational resources to building a solid design and 3D foundation.

Oklahoma City, OK - November 23, 2009 - It's time to get back to the basics with Digital-Tutors ground-breaking educational series, Visual Guide. The award-winning providers of video-based training for students, instructors, professionals and hobbyists around the world today released 20 all-new software independent lessons for learning design and 3D fundamentals.

The new additions to the Visual Guide series are step-by-step tutorials that use a visual, unique teaching approach to make learning complex topics easy to comprehend. Each lesson is a staple for beginner artists wanting to build a solid foundation in computer graphics and provides a variety of essential terms and definitions as well as basic tips and techniques.

"Some of the topics we cover, like global illumination and subsurface scattering, can be difficult to get a handle on. The sheer volume of settings and options you have in each software application doesn't make it any easier," said Justin Marshall, Lead Modeling Instructor at Digital-Tutors. "Being able to see simple graphic explanations of photons or caustic effects, for instance, will really cement those concepts in a student's mind. And that's the Visual Guide," stated Marshall.

Visual Guide Lessons

Topics covered in the Visual Guide include ambient occlusion, anti-aliasing, area lights, bump maps, caustics, directional lights, displacement maps, environment mapping, final gather, global illumination, high dynamic range images, HSV color space, instances, point lights, RGBA channels, spot lights, subsurface scattering, tessellation, UVs, and channels: Zdepth.
