Over the past several years, previsualization (“previs”) and real-time motion capture have become standard terms in the vocabulary of professionals who create motion pictures, game cinematics, commercials and other media. Previs allows shots, sequences and even entire films to be “drafted” digitally, helping directors and their teams explore creative ideas, build a stronger plan in iteration, and deliver the final product extremely efficiently. Real-time, camera-less motion capture is known for its ability to seamlessly track and record the movements of performers and props, breathing life into CG characters and the worlds they inhabit.
