Here is my latest 3D work,all objects are 3D rendered in mental ray.Some info:
4 month of work,more than 30 million polygons+displacement,SSS effects on plants+glossy effects(reflection/refraction),about 60 hours render…

I don't really believe that maya and MR is so faster than max.I know it's true that mr renders a lot quicker,I saw that one guy rendered similar scene with pretty much the same polycount and render settings and it took 3 hours to render.Actually I don't know which PC he has and so on or maybe I used higher settings than needed but I don't think that such a shot can take less tan 3 hours!The main reason for my render is took so long is memory ,I have only 4 gigs and BSP 2 couse errors in large scenes in my max 2009 and MR!So I used BSP1 and all the objects were loaded in memory and didn't unload unesed voxels such in BSP2 and that's the main reason of long render time(great part of this render time is loading proxies from HDD and it's pretty slow even with my RAID hdd),Also there is a lot of SSS and trace depth for refraction is set to 11 just for leaves to look right(are not black).

| If Rendered in maya this shot should of taken no more than 20 minutes to render on a quad core 3.6. Setting up your materials to not over calculate is key to taking this from a still to a video.... Great work I just want you to not think 30 million polygons has to take so long to render.

Very well done! The thatched roof and building look slightly flat/stuck in to the scene. I think a minor darkening of the shadows in post would do it justice.
Great work on the plant shaders though!
