    Software: Autodesk Maya
    Description:
Time is a Jellyfish is a short animation about how time is ambiguous, a jellyfish.
I created it at Loyalkaspar for their 5th anniversary between projects in a span of two or so months.
The look was inspired by artist Dale Chihuly and his glass sculpture.

It was created in Maya 2008 and composited in After Effects. The animation aesthetic was meant to be a mixture of organic and ridgid using hand animation, dynamic curves and non-linear deformers.  It was rendered in Mental Ray using standard Maya software shaders except for a parti_volume_photon node which was used to create the light rays. The environment particles were done in maya instead of particular. The sound was created by Jasper Reinhart Knudsen Berg.

I'd like to thank everyone at Loyalkaspar for giving me the opportunity to make this animation.

    Thanks for the nice comments.

Jared - I'd really like to see your underwater shot when you're done.

rbralynski - Yeah I was lighting the head of the jellyfish when maya froze and the mac beach ball came up next to the head and I said to myself wow they look so similar. What if the jellyfish turned into a mac beach ball. it was an epiphany.

Great job, Kyle! This is actually very similar to a stylized underwater shot I've been working on. The huge array of colors and particles really make this a beautiful piece. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
