$10/MONTH & Price Drop!

Mudbox for 10!

Hey everyone,

We recently announced that Mudbox is now available as a desktop subscription for $10 a month.  We also announced that we have dropped the price for purchase to $495.  This is excellent news for all users.   I thought I would take a moment to discuss what this means for users and their daily creative pursuits.  First of all, we dropped the price of Mudbox from $795 down to $495 and this certainly makes life easier for purchasing a license of Mudbox.  Secondly, we have added Mudbox to the ever-growing portfolio of Autodesk Desktop Subscription offerings at the bargain price of $10 per month.   The flexibility this offers to artists out there is fantastic.  The ability to sculpt, paint and visualize all within one package for these price offerings is awesome.

One of the areas that we really want to provide a great amount of this flexibility to is within the Indie Game market.  We are seeing Indie Game developers wanting the ability to have access to Mudbox for short period of times, or on a per-project basis, without the commitment of a perpetual license.  Desktop Subscription gets you access to use Autodesk software for a specified period of time, with the option to renew.

Desktop Subscription offers (during the period of Subscription) benefits similar to a perpetual license with Maintenance Subscription, including basic support and, for most products, access to select Autodesk 360 cloud services. Other benefits include:

Scalable Licensing — Quickly scale up and down to manage a variety of temporary project and staffing needs.

Pay When You Need it — With Desktop Subscription, you pay for access to software only when you actually need it, giving you the flexibility to control costs without an up-front license investment or long-term commitment.

The Latest Software — Stay current with the latest releases and product enhancements.

I would, always prefer Zbrush which is much better than Mudbox and without a very expensive subscription strategy. I own Zbrush for many years and paid one time + a little for keyshot + Keyshot bridge. Updates were always free! Mudbox would costs thousands of dollars over a couple of years. Same with 3dsMax... it? a shame 1600 bugs per year....in a market were Bulgarian and Ukrainian/Russian people compete with supermarket prices. I wait for an Adobe 3D power solution (they play fair) or buy a non subscription based package.

I agree with James - I would immediately jump on Maya LT + Mudbox for something like 25-35 a month.

Would be nice if you revisited the price of subscribing to Maya LT. It seems too high when compared to the price of Mudbox now. I'd like to see both offered as combo for say $25-35 a month and I'd jump on it.

Good News! But if you are aiming for the Indie gaming market you should fix all the lowpoly painting issues.
