After collaborating on the award-winning feature Arrival, Framestore reunited with visionary director Denis Villeneuve for the 2017 science-fiction sequel Blade Runner 2049. Framestore discussed the visual artistry and tools that contributed to the film's distinct look, as well as the trends that are shaping the future of visual effects.
Richard Hoover joined Framestore as VFX Supervisor in Montréal in 2015, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the visual effects industry, as demonstrated by two Academy Award nominations for feature films Superman Returns and Armageddon. Richard is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where he studied Fine Arts and Architecture. His first role as Director’s Assistant at MidOcean Motion Pictures took him straight to Hollywood.
Over the last several years, virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality have really taken hold within the visualization and AEC fields, but the future of this technology and how it evolves are far from set in stone. The speed at which developments in software and hardware are happening make this one of the most exciting and challenging technologies of the last several decades. In this panel, we discussed the current state of the XR (x Reality i.e VR, AR, MR etc) industry, strategies for keeping up with the latest advancements, balancing creativity and technology through storytelling, collaborative design, new technologies that could help our industry in marketing and design, how to find the right people to manage XR projects and much more. Join us for this open talk about the future of XR and how it will change the industry.
Amy Bunszel, SVP Design and Creation Products, will reveal how the products you use every day are evolving to fit the way you work today and into the future. She'll be joined by a few of your peers who'll highlight their work with these solutions, providing inspiration for your own projects.
