Interdisciplinary Approaches to Multimedia Design and Production
What is the relationship between passion, vocation, and profession? In this talk, Armando Gomez, a multimedia director with the innovative international multimedia studio Moment Factory, shares his approach to creating spatially dynamic experiences. Through pioneering, interdisciplinary methods, Moment Factory tells visual stories in collective spaces, enhancing their unique toolbox of technologies by working in various forms of entertainment.
Armando Gomez is a drummer, architect, and multimedia director. Born in Bogotá Colombia, he attained his degree in architecture with an emphasis in digital media at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. From 2004 to 2010, he combined his professional training in architecture with his passion for music and his vocation of digital media, to develop an extensive portfolio in motion design, animation, and VFX.
BRINGING THE DINOSAURS OF JURASSIC WORLD BACK FROM EXTINCTION.
In this presentation, ILM’s David Vickery will give an overview of the combined efforts of the creature effects and visual effects teams to create, build and breath life into the dinosaurs of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
David Vickery joined Industrial Light & Magic’s London studio in 2015 as a Visual Effects Supervisor. In addition to supervising effects work, Vickery also provides creative oversight for some of the studio’s other projects. His most recent work can be seen in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom for which he served as the Production Visual Effects Supervisor.
Prior to joining ILM, Vickery served as the Production Visual Effects Supervisor on Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, which opened July 31st. He is well known for his work as a Visual Effects Supervisor on films such as Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 and 2, Fast & Furious 6 and Jupiter Ascending. His work has been recognized with an Academy Award® nomination and the 2012 BAFTA Award for Special Visual Effects for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in addition to numerous Visual Effects Society Award nominations and wins. Having strong ties to the visual effects community in London, Vickery formerly sat as Co-Chair on the UK board of the Visual Effects Society and is a member of BAFTA. After completing a Degree in Industrial Design at De-Montfort University Vickery went on to receive an MA in Digital Moving Image from London Metropolitan University.
