Laputa Castle in the Sky is one of the Hayao Miyazaki movies that I most like. In this project i've tried going further and explore more details. I always like to learn new tools, Houdini was a great challenge. I learned to make the volumetric clouds, simulation to create the broken pillars and tools to create random rocks. Trees were made in SpeedTree, the rest was done and rendered in Maya, like grass, fur, vegetation, scatter... In rendering I used Redshift.
Created in zbrush and Maya, rendered with Arnold.
Hi Everyone, wanted to share the final update for this one. This chimpanzee project its been in my to-do list for quite some time, and this is the 3rd time I have actually restarted this project. Been wanting to sculpt an ape for a while and this one was quite a lot of fun and I am happy I got to finish it this time around (although its just a head )
Model was created from scratch in zbrush- Dynamesh and Retopo; Sculpted back in ZBrush with HD Geo. lots of references and prior to start this one I did a few studies in photoshop. Textured in Mari and rendered in Arnold for Maya.
fur was done with XGEN HDRI from hdriHAVEN
Created for my Foundation Term Final Project at Think Tank Training Centre, this piece is a re-imagined Alice in Wonderland 3D render based on the concept "We're All Mad Here" by Heather Theurer. The powerful storytelling and surrealist design of this piece spoke to me in that we’re all crazy and weird in our own way, and we’re happiest that way.
Special thanks to my mentor, Christian Peck.
