There are many symbols in this work related to my life. Firstly, I have a real cartoon toy rat, which my mother bought me when I was 7 years old. She didn't used to have this outfit and my grandmother and I dressed her up later. This year, since it's 2020, the year of the rat begins and she should wear her outfit =) My grandmother made the outfit.
Secondly, every year is a year of new emotions and knowledge, a school of life. Therefore, the rat holds an invisible backpack, as a symbol of knowledge, of school. Why exactly invisible? Because we don’t know what awaits us in each year - that is, we don’t see this baggage of knowledge that we will receive...
I used XGen to create the whole fur and edited the guides in Ornatrix a little.
In Blender, I did rig and pose. I learned it in just 30 minutes.
Zbrush used to sculpt the model.
Mudbox for drawing PTEX cards for Xgen.
Substance Painter for textures.
Quad Remesher for retopology.
Render in Redshift. I didn’t struggle with noise in some places, since it also gives some kind of artistry. I don’t like perfectly clean renderings. The charm of perception of the render is lost, like a photo if we will fight with noise =)
