3. Abbas Emadi's "The Last Warrior"

3D render "The Last Warrior" by Abbass Emadi, made in 3ds Max

Made in 3ds Max

Artist Notes: "To do this project, I used substance painter for the first time, and it was a good experience for me and too for the first one I used the fiber mesh in Zbrush for long hair. Because of lack of time, I used the ZRemesher in ZBrush. The reference of this work is Tianhua Xu's concept. He's one of the greatest artists painting, of course in my opinion."

4. Tomas Kral's "Monster Under The Bed"

3D render "The Monster Under the Bed" by Tomas Kral, made in Autodesk Maya

Made in Maya

Artist Notes: "Hi folks, here is my last artwork called "Monster under the bed". This is a very personal picture for me in many ways. Since the birth of my daughter Alenka, my life has changed. I know it's a somewhat corny thing to say but I could never imagine the amounts of love that suddenly flooded my life. I made this picture for her, even though she is too small to understand. I tried to recreate the room exactly as her baby room and fill it with her favorite toys. There are a few little "easter eggs" too, like the drawing from The Little Prince, a robot toy with "RUR" written on it (the awesome company I work at), a poster of Totoro (her favorite movie), and the Neverending Storybook (which I love and read to her). The artwork is inspired by the awesome work of Goro Fujita and I would also like to thank my friend Filip Zetek for helping me with the final stage of postproduction."

3d render "The Cave Painter" by Robert Craig Made in Autodesk Maya

Made in Maya

Artist Notes: "The story behind this guy is that he lives deep in an underground cave, collecting leftover items from would-be adventures who come down there. He is really more of a peaceful guy than an angry troll though and likes to crush up glowing mushrooms to make paint cave paintings on the rocks to tell his story. For the technical stuff, the modeling and sculpt went quite quickly and were pretty straightforward, but I took a bit of time to get the lighting and materials looking right.. Especially the lighting where it was quite hard to get the right atmosphere! Thanks for looking."

15. Joel Erkkinen's "Spoil Boy and 'Pet' Gorilla"

3d render "Spoil boy and pet gorilla" by Joel Erkkinen Made in Autodesk Maya

Made in Maya

Artist Notes: "This is the Gorilla from my short film “Spoil Boy”. In the story, he is thrown from a truck going to the zoo. His crate lands and breaks open right in front of our frustrated main character. Spoil Boy sees this as an opportunity to finally impress his friends. He lassos the cute fuzzy primate and drags him back to his house. There he keeps him in a crate only big enough to house the animal's body taking the creature out just to “train” him. Seeing no light and only eating he eventually becomes what you see here. Spoil Boy impresses everyone around and procures many a friend. But it comes… at a cost…"
