I'm looking into CAT at the moment and the automatic stretching is far easier to achieve than in Puppetshop, which is pretty nice. With your approach squashing also works pretty nicely - thx for sharing!

And, Wow! That looks like you've got CAT working in Max 2010!! How did you do get CAT in Max 2010? :)

Hello again Louis, I would find it really valuable to see a video on skinning a mesh (using the Skin Modifier) over a CAT rig. I would like to see some tips for vertex weighting and how to make adjustments to your vertex weighting (if necessary) after you have created a freeform or procedural animation. Can you offer some advice, or possibly have time in the future to record something on this topic? Regards, JP

Veryy...... nice.. thanks Louis

the stretch does not squash on the next key or return to default when animating the palm in ik mode. Am I missing something? It's very difficult to animate with.

Very good tutorial as always Louis, thanks. When I go into animation mode with stretch on manipulateion mode my spine automatically snaps to a strecthed position rather than the position I have it set at setup mode. Any reason why this would happen? Also could you please make a tutorial on adding controllers to CAT (when I try to add controllers to the arm it flips) + more advancing tutorials such as adding custom attributes like footrolls. Thanks again

Hello, guys~ I'm sure that this is great idea but I have no idea why we need this process. I'm using CAT in the 3ds max 2011 design and there's no problem to animate stretching arm with following the turning on 'Manipulation' step and it also keeps its volume. I mean the length goes back on set up mode and in animation mode, we can make the length back by copying first key. I much appreciate if anybody give me a guide. Thank you. Cheers~

Whoops, I think I got right answer for myself. The problem of CAT's default rig is that it doesn't squash while it's length is change. It changes only it's length with keeping its shape, right? And I can see that's why we need to add extra bones. Am I right? sorry for my poor english. Cheers~

How i can disable/enable stretchy during animation mode?
Just went through a video. I also stumbled upon problem of getting arms stretched in animation mode. Double checked setup, bones set to stretch and constrained as shown. Everything works in CAT figure mode but not in Animation mode. Both CAT Arm bones Stretching is set for Animation mode in Hierarchy. Arms work like with usual IK, no stretch.
